Making Extra Money in These Difficult Times by Jorge Chavez

In these difficult economic times lots of people are interested in making extra money. Many look to the Internet as a possible source.

Of course, you can make money on the Internet. But that is not necessarily easy. Most ways for making extra money require special skills, training, acquired know-how and often substantial investment in tools and training before you can expect any return.

There are exceptions. One way is to take paid consumer opinion surveys, online surveys that pay. Large companies spend over forty billion dollars a year on market research. And that's just in the U.S. alone. Some of the primary tools of market researchers are different types of online surveys. Thousands of surveys are being made on the Internet every week.

Legitimate surveys are paid surveys. They have to be. Otherwise they can't get people to take the time to fill them out and give their opinions. Surveys that take 6-8 minutes in filling out will pay about $10; a 10-16 minute survey, $25.

That's not a lot of money, but it adds up. If you take a $25 survey and a $10 one daily, that's $35. Do that for a month and it's more than a thousand dollars! The questions asked are easy to answer; there are no right answers or wrong answers, they just want your opinion. And it takes very little time.

If you are a consumer (everyone who eats is a consumer!) have an Internet connection and enough computer skills to send and receive e-mails, you qualify to take online surveys for money.

For making extra money from paid surveys, the most important (and the trickiest) part is getting a good list of good survey makers who offer legitimate paid surveys. You want the serious ones, that really pay, not the no-pay/low-pay ones. Your problem will be that the former do not advertise and the latter do. The come-ons for free lists are for these undesirable non-paying surveys.

Every list of survey makers is paid for by someone. If the survey participants don't pay it then the low-quality survey makers pay recruiters to find them more "freebie" recruits.

If you want to give it a try, the best way to get a good list of market research companies offering good paying surveys is to join a private paid survey group and get a copy of their list. There are well over a hundred of these. Some are better than others.

To pick out one of the better ones, use a good paid surveys review site that monitors these private paid survey groups and rates them periodically. Things change rapidly in the marketplace and last year's jewels can become this year's dogs.

O.K. Let's say you are up for making extra money. Just how much can you make by taking surveys for money?

It depends on your demographics (how much survey activity there is in your area) and your diligence at persuing it. But most survey-takers report incomes of $250 to $650 a month. Many report incomes of $1,000 a month or more from this activity.
